Butyl acetate – Butac for short – n-Butyl acetate, is an ester which is flammable and a colorless liquid at room temperature. Butyl acetate can be found in many types of fruit and has a sweet smell. The main process for producing butyl acetate is the esterification of acetic acid with n-butanol.
As a result of strong relationships with many producers globally, HELM holds an important position in the butyl acetate business.
Examples of applications
Due to its excellent properties as solvent, Butyl Acetate serves as auxiliary in the coatings industry (for e.g. resins) and furthermore as a cleaning and degreasing agent for industrial use.
Due to its low water absorption, butyl acetate may be used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations as well as component used in detergents, essences and fragrances.
