Ethyl Acetate

Ethyl acetate has an important role in the production of paints and varnishes. It is also used in the production of adhesives and in the pharmaceutical industry. 

Ethyl acetate – Ethac for short – is a flammable, colourless, liquid solvent sold in large quantities. There are two main processes for producing ethyl acetate: one is based on ethanol, the other on ethylene. Both of these process also require acetic acid as a raw material. As a result of structural marketing agreements with long-standing, reliable suppliers and thanks to having the relevant tank set-up, HELM holds an important position in the ethyl acetate business.

Examples of applications

Ethyl acetate has industrial application as an extraction agent and/or as a processing aid in the manufacture of paints, varnishes, diluting agents and coatings. It also plays a role in manufacturing printing inks, in the packaging industry and in the production of adhesives. Additional fields of application are in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and body care products.
