Phenol
Phenol is an important feedstock for the production of Bisphenol A and Phenolic Resins and is sold by HELM worldwide.
Description
Phenol is classified as hazardous substance and must be stored in stainless-steel tanks. It must be kept at the prescribed day temperature of around 55°C. Since lengthy transportation can have a negative effect on the quality (colour), HELM operates a supra-regional network in order to ensure short delivery routes. As phenol is produced together with acetone, which is also marketed by HELM, an efficient logistics network is in place that ensures consistency in deliveries.
Examples of applications
Phenol is used in the production of Bisphenol A (a precursor for polycarbonate plastic), Acetyl Salicylic Acid, Phenolic Resins and Caprolactam.
